• Big Four Annual Report – Ames Research Group Int’l

One of the joys of writing this blog is getting mail. One of the first to write me and to comment on my writing was Christopher Ames of the Ames Research Group. I was surprised and pleased to find someone as interested in the Big Four (KPMG, PwC, Deloitte and Ernst & Young) from a business strategy and structure perspective as I am. Christopher does this for a living, however, and brings the attention to detail and super-professional approach that is required when you charge money for your opinion.

The Big Four Annual Report is of interest to practitioners, marketing professionals and others who serve the firms. My advance copy was rich with interesting thought leadership and data about the firms and the profession.

    From their site:
ARGI’s 2007 Big Four Annual Report is the only comprehensive analysis of annual Big Four market share and operating results. The report uses a special methodology to analyze firm results and covers all areas which are critical to major professional service organizations.

For 2007, the Report assesses trends and issues such as “Public Accounting in the Public Eye,” the need for world-class talent, the Post Crisis SOX 404 environment, and prospects for Big Four growth in the next 5-10 years.

The report also provides an overview important market share metrics, such win and losses, net audit market share gain in 2006, and average professional fees charged per firm.
