I spoke at the Fifth Annual Fraud and Forensic Accounting Education Conference on June 2. My presentation, “The Skeptical Professional: Requirements and Case Studies,” was given on Thursday morning and I had a full house.
Ryan Chittum at the Columbia Journalism Review said some very nice things about my piece in Forbes on Roger Lowenstein and his “Wall Street: Not Guilty” piece.
Ok, so it’s not a quote. And they don’t even mention my name. But indulge me a minute. I’m thrilled to have been linked to by American Lawyer’s Amy Kolz in the AmLawDaily Blog regarding the Berkshire Hathaway investigation of the Sokol affair.
I’ve recently written two pieces for Forbes.com and my column, Accounting Watchdog about Wall Street and criminality. Here are two stories about Wall Street criminals and those that defend them.
It was a quiet almost-end to a sordid chapter in PwC’s history. Last week I wrote about PwC’s settlement of their Satyam class action lawsuits in New York for Forbes. Here’s some additional commentary and analysis, including links to all the stories I’ve written about the scandal since it broke in January 2009.
I was quoted on May 2 in an article in American Banker by Alex Ulam entitled, “Why Second-Lien Loans Remain A Worry”. My quote focused on disclosures and transparency – for the loans and the reserves for losses. It’s a subject I’ve written about extensively.
The Ohio AAA meeting will be held May 12-14, 2011 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Dublin, Ohio. I will be up twice on Friday. I’m on a panel, “An Examination of the Audit Business Model” and later that evening hosting an informal “Conversations with…”. I hope you can join us.

The Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting draws a huge crowd because it features several hours of the wit and wisdom of Berkshire Hathaway CEO and Chairman Warren Buffett and his friend and Vice Chairman Charlie Munger. To say that Buffett, Munger, and Berkshire Hathaway have a cult-like following would be a a significant understatement. I attended the meeting and here’s my report.
