By Francine • Nov 22nd, 2009

When Doug Chia of Johnson & Johnson told me he would be at the Directorship Boardroom Leaders Forum in NYC, I knew I had to cover both the FEI CFRI and Directorship’s conference.

The FEI CFRI Conference…And More

By Francine • Nov 18th, 2009

I’ve just wrapped up two days of conference attendance here in New York City – The FEI Current Issues in Financial Reporting Conference and the Directorship Boardroom Leaders Forum. The Directorship BLF started with a dinner on Monday night which I was unable to attend but that featured what I heard was a great speech by “pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg. The BLF conference itself didn’t kickoff until later Tuesday morning. In the meantime, on Monday I attended several sessions at the FEI CFRI conference.

McKenna Interviewed By @MissTrade’s Matt Davio

By Francine • Aug 29th, 2009

I was video interviewed earlier this week by Matt Davio @MissTrade on Twitter. There are hundreds of traders who follow me on Twitter and they’re starting to visit this blog in greater and greater numbers. They tell me that they are always looking for an edge, information not available elsewhere. So, I’m gratified they think they’ve found it.

McKenna On Auditor Litigation: Securities Docket’s Mid-Year Update and Schein v. EY

By Francine • Jul 11th, 2009

Last Thursday I participated in the “2009 Mid-Year Review – Securities Litigation and Enforcement” sponsored by Securities Docket. The webcast is part of BrightTalk’s Securities Litigation Summit, and follows-up and provides an update to the popular “2008 Year in Review” we presented in January 2009.
I joined several of the leading bloggers in the securities litigation [...]

Accountants And Social Media Dream Panel @MDBIZEXPO

By Francine • Jun 21st, 2009

I had the very good fortune of being invited to participate in a dream panel at the Maryland Association of CPAs Business Expo last week. The panel was moderated by Bill Sullivan of the MACPAs and included Edith Orenstein of FEI, Will Burns of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Alexandra DeFelice of the Journal of Accountancy, and Rick Telberg of CPA Trendlines.

A lot has changed, except for the Big 4, since I wrote this post.

Compliance Week Day 2 – More Than Enough To Keep Me Busy

By Francine • Jun 12th, 2009

Forgive the delay in posting this second day summary. There was no lack of content or new friends. I will reiterate what I have already said prior and what was said on other blogs like Compliance Building, Securities Docket, IT Compliance, and Matt Kelly’s Compliance Week spot – There’s nothing like meeting people in person to create a new and stronger bond of cooperation and sharing. And that is exactly how I feel about Doug, Bruce, Alex, and Matt. I see great collaboration in the future, all for your benefit.

By Francine • May 26th, 2009

For the third year in a row, I’ll be covering the Compliance Week Annual Conference held at the Mayflower Hotel June 3-5, 2009, Washington DC. To see what kind of trouble I can stir up, just look at my coverage last year.

This year promises to be just as stimulating.

On The Road Again

By Francine • Apr 6th, 2009

I’ve been invited to meet some readers today in the greater Cincinnati area. It seems there are present and former employees of the Big 4 and next tier audit firms in Cincinnati who read this blog frequently. I guess my notariety surprised the heck out of one of my former Jefferson Wells colleagues, Dave Eichert now at Clark Schaefer Consulting. (Actually, not. He knows me so well.) He’s graciously agreed to host a meetup and I’ve added a Tweetup so we can all talk it out.
